The Critical Thinking Summary

There are many definitions for critical thinking, gathering ideas, analyzing, evaluating, forming opinions and drawing conclusions. Everybody can be a critical thinker but is very important for certain people such as parents, doctors, air traffic controller and others who have the responsibility are critical thinkers. There are many features to be a critical thinker. A critical thinker has to use a conscious level of processing-that is to say, want to know more about the question given and asks questions about it like why it happens. Critical thinkers listen carefully and concentrate to what others are saying. Another thing is should a critical thinker be curious and want to know every thing about a topic. Critical thinking is important because it plays an important role in society like courts and business.

There is a hierarchical classification of the levels of thinking which is known as Bloom’s Taxonomy. The levels are in a pyramid shape. At the bottom of the pyramid, the lowest level is knowledge which is defined as recognizing information. Comprehension comes next which is paraphrasing the information. This is follow by application which is the ability to solve problems. Next comes analysis which is examining and breaking down data. Synthesis comes before the last and it is defined as the ability to recreate the information in many different ways. The last and most complex is evaluation which is the ability to asset information or critiques it.

Every body can become a critical thinker if they ask useful questions, develop sense of observation and share ideas with others.
