“An Inconvenient Truth” - Summary

In the 2006 movie “An Inconvenient Truth”, Al Gore, the former vice president of the US, talks about global warming. He concerned about this issue after the death of his sister from lung cancer and also his son’s near-fatal car accident. He presents the causes of the climate change crisis and problems with consequences. At the end, he outlines some solutions to reduce the problem.

At the beginning, he defines global warming which is the increase in the earth temperature and this happens when most of the infrared waves are trapped under the atmosphere layer caused by global warming pollution. The main cause of this issue is the high percentage of the CO2 in the atmosphere which is produced by many factors such as burning and destroying forests, smoke of factories and other factors. People aware of increasing the CO2 after Roger Reveille had made the experiment in 1957 to measure the CO2 in the atmosphere for several years and showed the result which was the percentage of the CO2 in the atmosphere increases every year.

There are many problems which could occur due to global warming. Melting glacier is an example of global warming. Al Gore compares some places in the past and now. He finds most of the glaciers have melted. Raising the sea level is another issue if Greenland melts. Many lands will be covered by the sea which will result in more than 80 million refugees.

Al Gore states some solutions which can reduce the issue. One solution is to reduce the CO2 in the atmosphere by reducing using machines which produce CO2 emissions. Another solution is to plant more trees to observe the CO2 from the atmosphere.

In conclusion, the main idea Al Gore wants to send is that everybody has part of the responsibility of global warming. Therefore, all people and countries should work together to reduce this problem.
